alicia, the photographer

i’ve been taking pictures for years, but it became more important, more essential when i began visiting new york city and even more when i  moved to brooklyn about a year ago.

my husband could see, could feel my desire to create through photography. he is the one who bought me the canon 40d dslr camera i use. he is the one who encourages me past my fears, compliments and critiques anything i need, and provides technical assistance whenever i ask. he’s to thank for helping me take my first big steps to becoming a photographer.

so here i start learning, experimenting, freezing moments and memories in time. the name i chose for my photo blog, be a photograph, was inspired by a phrase i found, be a picture or look a picture, which means to be beautiful. as a photographer, i am constantly looking for beauty, even in places it does not seem to exist at first glance.

i also keep a collection of photos on flickr, as brklynphoto and a life blog, a new york city life, sharing our experiences here in nyc. follow along as i explore and share my adventures in photography and living in the city.
