photo a day and my whereabouts

it’s been a while since i posted here. been unsure lately if i am happy with this space. in the end of november, i got the idea that i was going to redo this area. my thoughts were to move these kinds of “posts” and projects to flickr and make this space more of a collection of portraits. this came about because i took engagement photos and family photos while i was visiting family over thanksgiving holiday. i will also be taking some wedding photos, hopefully do a maternity session and maybe even a senior session soon. i want to have a place to build a “portfolio” that is still low key and manageable for me at the point i am in. not sure when that change will come about. i think it will happen. hopefully in the spring or so. it’s a bit overwhelming, and so that would be the exact reason i haven’t been around.
i thought i’d drop by and say hi though and share the project that i started with the new year. i am doing the 365 project - photo a day, with a twist. i’m only taking photos with my iphone camera!! i’m usingĀ the shakeitphoto app and getting these “vintage”-y photos, which i love! here are four… for more, click on over to my photo a day blog here or my flickr account. and leave any sweet thoughts you have!! i need all the cheerleaders i can get :)
photo meetup
you may remember the post i made of my final project, the portfolio collection, for the photo school i participated in last summer. the photo school, named souvenir photo school, was created by miss b and provided great inspiration! i had a great time being a part of her class during the end of the first term (missed the beginning of the class because at the time, i was not aware it even existed). a few weeks ago, i got an email from her saying she’d be in new york and wanted to meet up to take some photos! earlier tonight, we did get to meet up in central park and for a photo walk through the park. it was fun wondering around some of my favorite parts of the park shooting photos. i took her and her friend, s, to places i’ve gone so many times, but i loved how, despite me being there time and time again taking photos, they helped me see things i hadn’t noticed before. miss b also pointed out places to take photos and use as textures (something i haven’t done a lot of experimenting with, but am looking forward to collecting more potential textures).
as i explained how i tend to not take as many photos during the week (usually caused by the lack of light when i am finally off work), miss b mentioned a photographer who took photos on the subway. i haven’t seen these photos, but tonight, on the subway home, i was inspired to capture a few photos.

i am especially excited now for the second session of souvenir photo school to begin. can’t wait to see what creative and inspiring assignments we get! i’m hoping to keep myself on top of the assignments from the beginning to end.
love thursday: love me

it’s been days since i’ve been around these parts. i had hoped i’d still be picking up my camera everyday, but sadly, life has gotten into the rest of the way and i haven’t even had my camera on since labor day. o well. here’s a find from soho a couple weekends ago. hope to get my camera out this weekend, maybe sooner, depending on plans and weather. :)
reflection by the art

i always love a good reflection photo (actually i love any type of reflection photo!) i captured this portrait outside of the powerhouse book store in dumbo, brooklyn. i meant to capture both the portrait and my reflection. anyone else love their own reflection (even though their faces are hidden behind a camera!)??
in my heart

love thursday - dumbo is in my heart, bokeh is in my heart
and a few other things i am loving right now:
*love beth’s photos transformed into inspirational postcards. beautiful!
*love this song. i was introduced to this song via olivetti studio.
*love this guy. love him. love him. love him.
