it’s been a while since i’ve taken a photo for my stranger project. i need to get back to it. eventually i’m going to move away from people who are doing/practicing some sort of performance. for now, i guess this is just practice for me to get more comfortable with the whole project.
change of focus

took my new lens out to the park to play.
fall leaves

out-of-focus #25
i have to get out and get more out-of-focus photos of the fall colors. i realized i only got one or two during my walk in the park last weekend! click here to see some really beautiful blurry fall photos by the very talented photographer, georgia. and while i’m sharing links, you have to go check out the new additions to the 100 out-of-focus flickr group!! radiant reflections has an excellent start to her 100 out-of-focus photos!
anyone else have some great out-of-focus photos? join the group and add them to the collection!!
movement

sometimes i think i mess up my settings on my camera so bad that i don’t even know what is going on… and here, trying to capture the movement of a football game going on in the park… i should have stayed in my spot, shooting and changing settings until i got a better image. i feel like this is the only way i will learn what means what as far as my settings go. unfortunately, the fall colors of a bright yellow tree were calling me, willing me in their direction.
i do like the movement in the photo, but i can’t help but wish i could actually capture and freeze the players. maybe my lens doesn’t have the capability… but i’m sure my settings have some bad effect as well. anyone have advice for what settings i can use on my dslr in order to capture movement better?
fall polaroids

the first one didn’t turn out too great, but i pulled out my polaroid camera before heading to the park to take in the sunshine, warm weather, and delicious fall colors. and look at the magic i captured! love it!
last of the summer flowers

seasons are changing. flowers will be fading, as well as summer’s beautiful greens… they will soon turn into the colors of fall, the colors i’ll be excited to see, to photograph. how quickly the seasons come and go, and as they change from one to the next, i wonder if i will remember the beauty captured in seasons past… happy new season friends. here’s to fall photos and fall colors and cool fall weather…
lines in the light

i am in love with this photo.
the lines of the spider web, even if broken in places, glowing in the sunlight.
the bokeh of green and white and black in the background.
i hunted for the perfect spider web through the forest of trees in my park, the one placed with the sunlight shining from behind it.
i thought i wouldn’t find it, but i did. and i love what i’ve found.
walk in the park

my favorite colors to photograph are greens and blues. these are a few from last saturday’s walk in the park. i hope to be back next week with a few photos from real nature (real as in outside of the city).
vintage yellow

out-of-focus #5
spent this evening experimenting. i think i’m in love with photoshop, even when it frustrates me to no end (with all the endless and unknown possibilities…). as i’ve mentioned before, i really don’t know what i’m doing. i really don’t understand what everything even means. i have no idea what i’m getting right or completely ruining. i also have trouble remembering what i’ve done to a photo to make it look as it does from one time to the next!
but… i love, love, love vintage feeling photos like the ones above. it’s a kind of art that i want to create… and someday, hopefully soon, i’ll have a better understanding of how to create it with a few slides and clicks of the mouse in photoshop.
what inspired me tonight? clicking through flickr, i was thinking about all the wonderful photos collected there. i clicked to my favorites and noticed the overall feel was the lighter, vintage, worn colors. (click to see for yourself.) i cannot get enough of all these photos… the pinks and whites of this one… the faded lines and softness of this photo… the feeling and pinks and greens in this photo… and the blues of this photo fill me with wishes for the same beauty in the photos i create. so i again opened a the viewer to find some photos to feed my desires of creating… so tell me, what do you think? are there any colors off? colors on? are the photos too light? too processed? any photos you suggest i add to my collection of favorites?
